My name is Matt and I spent 2 days at the Mountain Top Ranch during the inaugural Code 3 Retreat. However, from the planning process to the last minute spent at Mountain Top Ranch it felt like the first ever Retreat had been perfected. I can’t say enough good things about the organizers of the Retreat as they exceeded any and all expectations. The Retreat was designed to offer an opportunity to first responders to get away from the hustle and bustle of the organized chaos we all call work. I couldn’t have dreamt up a more perfect venue for relaxation. The Retreat provided an incredible amount of activities but also the option to just sit back and relax while engaging in positive interactions with some of the finest men and women from around the country. Should the opportunity arise, I would suggest taking advantage of what the Code 3 Retreat offers to any and everyone.
“In 24+ years of experience in EMS, I have never been thanked or appreciated like this. Ever. The amount of compliments, compassion, therapy, relaxation, camaraderie and beauty on this retreat was indescribable. I am honored to have been a part of what is hopefully going to be the “new norm” of appreciation for what we do and what we’ve endured in our careers. I came home with new lifelong friends, my tank refilled, and a sincere smile on my face. First responders really are appreciated.
The hosts know us because they are us. Thank you so much.”
Mountain top ranch was an unbelievable experience! At first, I was skeptical and worried about the unknown of the trip. I was greeted by some amazing people who had set up the retreat. I quickly made friends with first responders and retired responders; they welcomed me to the ranch with open arms. The experience from the food, the excursions, and even the sleeping quarters was superb. Sharing stories and experiences around the bonfire until late at night was probably my favorite thing about the trip. The worst part about the trip was when it was time to leave. I would highly recommend going to the ranch if given the opportunity!
We received a call from Jennifer Browne inviting us to attend the first Code 3 Retreat. We were kind of in a unique position with both my wife and I being Deputy Sheriffs and both of us having gone through a couple different critical incidents in the recent years. We didn't know what to expect with the retreat but completely trust Jen, so we accepted the invitation and from there on, we really didn't need to do anything. Everything was taken care of. Pretty amazing group and a well-orchestrated retreat, from flights, to a fun trip to the ranch through Texas, it was completely taken care of.
We were both a little apprehensive about a retreat and having to be at certain places at certain times with people we didn't know and didn't really know what to expect. As it turned out, Jen and Code 3 put together a great retreat at Mountain Top Ranch. They had several excursions for us but nothing was mandatory, nothing was expected, and they simply made us feel at home in a place that was beautiful and unique. The accommodations were second to none, the food was amazing, and the people were awesome. No pressure to do anything or not do anything. We were able to ride on the side by sides through the property, watch a spectacular sunset, learn to throw axes, meet the zebra, and had a blast learning skeet shooting with the other participants of the retreat.
The staff at Mountain Top Ranch and Code 3 Retreat we so great to us and so accommodating. Meeting the other participants and getting to have relaxing conversations with people who have experienced some of the same events in their lives was very nice. After we returned, one of the first things we did was take our new sushi making kit that we received in our sushi making class and spend an evening together making various sushi rolls that we learned in the class.
It's not too often that there comes along a group of people so committed to just giving a group of various first responders a couple days away from the grind of the job and go out of their way to make you the priority for a couple days. Code 3 Retreat and Mountain Top Ranch were amazing to us. Thank you!
I choose to attend Code 3 Retreat not really knowing what to expect. When I got to the retreat location at Mountian Top Ranch, I and the fellow participants were welcomed and it never stopped. After 15 years as a firefighter, a numbness had formed to realize I needed to do something for myself. Code 3 Retreat understood just that, as fellow first responders they were able to relate, connect, and just be present. The retreat was a chill, no pressure environment that lets all the participants just be ourselves. Also don’t let me forget to mention a little bit of friendly competition thrown in there. If given the chance I’d attend again, if you’re considering this opportunity - Take it! - Adam Lynch
